If the ignition switch is left on without the engine running, a Powerspark ignition kit automatically prevents the coil circuit from remaining energised, helping to avoid component damage and battery drain."
By comparison, a conventional points distributor left with the ignition switched on, and the points closed will continuously draw around 4 amps, overheating the coil and flattening the battery within a few hours. A Powerspark system, however, draws only around 25 milliamps when left on, meaning it could theoretically remain powered for several weeks without flattening the battery, while causing no damage to the coil.

Our clockwise D31 and D31P are popular for Austin 7 models from 1934 to 1939.
This model features clockwise rotating drive gear (CW).
Taken from an original casting, we developed this product after fielding so many questions from owners of older cars about this distributor, particularly the Austin 7.
Complete and accurate data on fitment of these older distributors is harder to come by than for cars built in the 1960s and 70s.
